Cranbourne children learn that science has shaped many aspects of our current lives, and is key to shaping the future.
Our curriculum aims to give children a strong grounding in scientific knowledge, and equip them with the skills to be the scientific pioneers of the future.
Through a carefully planned progression, the children are able to apply what they have learnt and then test their ideas through devising experiments or observing phenomena. Children are encouraged to be curious and questioning, to be systematic and plan carefully, but equally to be surprised and awestruck! They experience the learning that takes place when experiments go wrong, even for 'real' scientists and how this can result in surprise successes (penicillin, anyone!).
All children are taught the full curriculum, with adaptations made where required for SEND children. These include, but are not limited to, scaffolding of tasks, changes to the way the children record their learning, and focussing on particular key skills and concepts.
